Drill Pipe Handling Tool (SHDPHT)

The STRONGHOLD Drill Pipe Handling Tool (SHDPHT) is a purpose-engineered hands-free safety tool designed to eliminate hand injuries during the movement and landing of suspended or hanging drill pipes on the rig floor and pipe deck.

Moving hanging drill pipes is one of the highest-risk activities on any drilling rig. The SHDPHT directly addresses this hazard by improving tag line usage — giving the pipe handler superior load control, directional flexibility, and a safe stand-off distance when guiding pipes during pick-up, lay-down, and landing operations involving pipe sizes up to 5 7/8″.

The ergonomic T-grip handle and adjustable telescoping fiberglass shaft allow the operator to maintain firm directional control without placing hands near the suspended load — reducing exposure to struck-by incidents, pinch points, and contact with drilling fluids. The integrated pipe cradle / hook profile securely engages the pipe OD, preventing slippage during load transfer and setback operations.

Compliant with international hands-free tool safety principles as recommended under IADC (International Association of Drilling Contractors) guidelines for dropped object prevention and hand safety on the drill floor. Particularly suited for onshore rigs in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, and offshore platforms operating across the Arabian Gulf, Red Sea, and wider MENA oilfield region.

Available in three shaft lengths — 1300mm, 1500mm, and 1800mm — to suit varying working heights and confined-space requirements across land rigs, jackups, and semi-submersibles.
