General Cargo Handling Tool (SHGCHT)

The STRONGHOLD General Cargo Handling Tool (SHGCHT) is an innovative, multi-purpose hands-free safety tool engineered for offshore deck crews and marine personnel who are required to safely handle, guide, and control general cargo, loose equipment, and operational loads in the high-hazard environment of offshore platforms, supply vessels, and marine construction sites.

Offshore cargo handling is among the most injury-prone activities in the petroleum industry. Deck crews are regularly exposed to struck-by incidents, crush injuries, and falls caused by uncontrolled movement of suspended or swinging loads during lifts, crane transfers, and deck-level cargo positioning. The SHGCHT directly addresses these hazards by providing a safe handling interface between the operator and the load — eliminating the need for direct hand contact during cargo control operations.

The tool’s Y-fork or multi-contact tip profile provides stable engagement with a wide range of cargo types including pipes, equipment baskets, rigging accessories, and general deck materials, while the long fiberglass shaft maintains a safe operator stand-off distance throughout. This makes the SHGCHT particularly effective for compliance with offshore safety management systems (SMS) and crane lift JSA (Job Safety Analysis) requirements under international offshore safety standards including ISO 13534 and IADC guidelines.

Designed for use by deck foremen, riggers, crane operators’ assistants, and banksmen operating in the Arabian Gulf, Red Sea, and offshore installations across UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Qatar where high wind, sea spray, and deck congestion increase cargo handling risk significantly.
