The tool uses a cable loop that cinches around the pipe, controlled from the end of an aircraft-grade aluminium pole. When the pipe needs to be released, there are two options: the standard spring-loaded release and an emergency release that works by lifting and sliding a knob. No fumbling. Replace the cable if fraying or kinking is visible. The aluminium body can be cleaned with standard solvents and does not require lubrication.
